LitC welcomes new Employment Adviser’s!

Legacy in the Community are pleased to announce that there are two new staff members, Jenny Hanson and Jan Allen-Darby, joining the Working on Wellbeing team.

Jenny, experienced in journalism, horticulture and tutoring, brings a widely dynamic expertise to the role. We cannot wait to see how Jenny will thrive in West Wales, covering the Pembrokeshire patch!

Jan has years of experience as an employment specialist, and has a real dedication to ensuring that the rights of disabled people are championed. Jan will be covering the Powys region alongside Russell Bradley.

The Legacy Team have been busy!

Rhiannon Morgan, Employment Adviser for West Wales regions, has been campaigning for Face Equality Week for visible difference charity Changing Faces.

Rhiannon lives with a rare skin condition called Epidermolytic Ichthyosis, and has been with the LitC team for two years.
Rhiannon mentions through her interviews how accommodating LitC have been as an organisation.

Since campaigning, Rhiannon has featured on The Metro, BBC Wales Today, BBC Wales News and Wales Online as well as radio appearances. On the subject, Rhiannon said:

“It was a surreal experience, but I loved being able to spread the message of inclusion.“

Lewis Wilmot becomes Diabetes UK young person’s ambassador

When out at an event, Lewis, despite being in a crowded room, lifted the bottom of his shirt and injected himself with his insulin pen.

As a Type 1 diabetic, insulin is a vital part of Lewis’ everyday routine.

This caught the eye of representatives of Diabetes UK nearby, where they asked Lewis to be a young person’s ambassador for diabetes.

Lewis is undoubtedly a positive role model for diabetes. so we are excited to see where this opportunity takes him.

Connection with businesses

Dustin Yemm, Business and Community Liaison has been out on the road connecting with businesses and organisations to further the promotion of Working on Wellbeing and the Disability Confident Scheme.

Dustin has so far succeeded with securing several job,
work experience and volunteering roles for individuals
on the Working on Wellbeing initiative.

Business Development Lead and Managing Director of LitC Gareth Marshall has been appointed as the Vice Chair of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Third Sector Mental Health Forum. Here is what Gareth has to say!

Working on Wellbeing Starting Line Updates

Russell has completed his Ystradglynais cohort with great success. One customer has re-referred onto the course, and another has recieved an interview invitiation after being out of work for over ten years! Russell is delighted.

Jan has taken to her new role like a duck to water. Jan has been busy contacting Jobcentres in Brecon and the surrounding areas and has already gotten a start date ready for the next group. Well done, Jan!

West Wales

Jenny has been shadowing Rhiannon in the Llanelli cohort, which comes to an end in June. Jenny is learning all about Starting Line, and has great ideas and is excited about delivering. We can’t wait to see how she will thrive!

The Llanelli group has been fantastic according to Rhiannon. Each have their own goals, dreams and aspirations. Rhiannon will continue to support them following the course finishing and there are potential opportunities lined up for all of the cohort members. Fantastic!

Working on Wellbeing (WoW) Anniversary: Principality Stadium Event

To commemorate the third year anniversary of WoW, LitC along with Scope, Disability Can Do, Whitehead Ross and reSource will be celebrating the successes of customer’s supported.

The event is intended to notice the hard work of all involved, including customers who have put themselves forward for the services provided.

As a whole, the Working on Wellbeing team are incredibly proud of the project, and hope to see the successes and reach expand as the project gains further momentum across Wales.
